Pimpama police facility build now underway Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services The Honourable Mark RyanPolice Minister Mark Ryan today joined Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll to turn the first sod on the new Pimpama Police complex and announce a boost to police ranks on the northern Gold Coast from early July. The new $6.084 million facility is being constructed by F.K Gardner and Sons Pty Ltd.Police Minister Mark Ryan said the project will be co-located with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) on a block of land at the corner of Cox and Yawalpah roads.Minister Ryan said works would support up to 20 full-time equivalent jobs for contractors and builders in the community.“I am pleased this project will support local workers in construction, electrical, plumbing, security and landscaping,” Minister Ryan said.“Once operational the new Pimpama facility will host 36 police officers.“But the northern Gold Coast will benefit even sooner, with 10 of the extra officers destined for the new Pimpama complex to be hosted at Coomera station from the third quarter of 2021 from where they will remain until the Pimpama project is complete.“This reflects the government’s watershed investment in police personnel, the biggest in 30 years, that will see an extra 2,025 personnel deployed across the state.”Queensland Police Service (QPS) Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the new 24-hour facility would provide contemporary accommodation to meet current and future operational policing needs.“The facility will have a public counter and foyer area, detainee holding cells, storage facilities, interview rooms and provide accommodation for operational staff,” Commissioner Carroll said.“Importantly, it will provide general duty policing functions, and cater for Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives.“The facility is necessary to meet the policing needs of the growing population in Pimpama and the surrounding region.“This facility will provide for an increase in service delivery and support our overriding objective of keeping the community safe.”The fast-tracked build was announced in July last year in line with an expanding community.Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with the new police complex anticipated to be fully operational by early 2022. /Public Release. Related OWN – 2016(LOS ANGELES) —With every interview, Oprah Winfrey strives to produce one reaction: “I’ve never thought of it that way.” In her new book, The Wisdom of Sundays: Life-changing Insights from Super Soul Conversations, Winfrey shares selections from those conversations that have inspired her the most, in hopes of encouraging others to think differently and live a fuller life.“My intention with the book is to offer on every page an opportunity to find a way to be closer to yourself, closer to the heart that you believe, closer to the name you refer to God as being, closer to bigger, closer to a better life,” Winfrey told ABC News.Winfrey also opened up about her own experiences with sexual harassment, in light of the allegations against Harvey Weinstein by dozens of women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mira Sorvino.“I hid a lot of things … just like all the women who are speaking up now,” she recalled. “I was constantly sexually harassed but I knew to speak up in that moment, I would have never worked…another day in television, I knew that. “Despite what she was going through, she said she told herself “trouble don’t last always,” “I won’t be here forever” and “I’m going to work my way through it.”“Now nobody has to do that,” says Oprah. She points out that the Weinstein revelations are just the most recent in a series of incidents that have brought the problem of sexual harassment to the forefront.“It was first [Roger] Ailes, then Bill O’Reilly then everything that happened there and that sort of opened it up, it cracked and now what has happened with Harvey Weinstein has really been a watershed moment,” she said, adding, “I think this is a big momentous, powerful time for women.”Copyright © 2017, ABC Radio. Visit: https://subscribe.premiersports.tv/ Verona patron Maurizio Setti claims his club have been made a “scapegoat” as their chief operating officer is “perplexed” by the partial stadium ban for racism. The FIGC ruled on Monday that part of Verona’s curva would be closed for their next game after fans racially abused Mario Balotelli during their 2-1 win against Brescia at the weekend. “We’ve been made a scapegoat,” Setti told Rainews24. The Gialloblu reacted by giving an 11-year ban to ultras leader Luca Castellini, who claimed the racism was all “in Balotelli’s head” and repeatedly referred to him as ‘n***o’ in a controversial interview. Director Francesco Barresi told Sky Sport Italia: “It’s a decision we took after careful consideration on Monday. “We’ve never tolerated and will never tolerate this type of behaviour, while fighting any form of discrimination. “We proceeded to take this measure because the principles and values that the club expects from any of its stakeholders proved to be alien to the subject in question. “As for the section of our curva being closed off, it’s a decision that’s just been made aware to us: we’ll evaluate the action taken and then decide how to move. “However, I must say that the measure leaves us perplexed and even amazed, given we consider it very harsh, especially if we were to identify those few subjects, as specified by the FIGC judge, in the context of a sector that holds thousands of fans. “We want to see this thing through because we believe it isn’t correct to punish an entire sector because of a few individuals, whom we’re trying to identify, to protect the many people and families that have been supporting Hellas Verona for many years.”
The Ohio State women’s volleyball team upset No. 7 Minnesota, 3-0, Saturday night at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes are 18-7 overall and 6-6 in the Big Ten. The night’s biggest contributor was outside hitter Katie Dull.Dull has consistently achieved match-high kills and digs. Against Minnesota, she recorded 10 kills and 12 digs. She also posted a team-high 12.5 points. Dull plays an aggressive offense, but her focus is on her defensive angle in the back row.“I always want to make my strong points better and focus on making my weak points good,” Dull said. Her defensive efforts are evident in her kills and digs, posting double-digit numbers in both in 22 of the last 24 matches.“I’m happier with my digging numbers rather than my hitting numbers because it’s something that I know is one of my weaker parts of my game,” Dull said.On the defensive side, Dull is ranked third in kills in the Big Ten.“I absolutely love competing in the Big Ten because I get to compete against the best players in the country,” Dull said. The Big Ten consistently has the most ranked teams in the top 25, making it the most competitive volleyball conference.OSU was the perfect fit for Dull, as she committed to play volleyball as a sophomore at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Last year, Dull received an honorable mention in the Big Ten.“It really resonated with me. To be recognized in one of the top conferences was an honor,” Dull said. Despite season-long success, Dull isn’t completely satisfied. The team has yet to reach its highest goals as it pushes into the second half of the season. The victory over Minnesota is the Buckeyes’ first win over a ranked opponent this season. The team is battling back for a spot in the top 25. The Buckeyes travel to face Iowa on Friday night and Wisconsin on Saturday night.

The pilot program is called, Smart Metering and the technology will allow customers, to control their water accounts, with the use of a ‘top-up’ or ‘pay as you go’ card.
